An art installation masquerading as a design experiment masquerading as a functioning boutique, O+A’s short-lived San Francisco gift shop was itself the art object. O+A designers engaged local maker friends to outfit the store with office related items for sale. The store also functioned as a working office space, available to any passerby to use for the hour or day. The pencils and staplers were free to use on the spot or available for purchase to take home. As the weeks wore on, the store became increasingly empty as nothing was re-stocked. Our motto was Never Open.
